Transcript of Coronavirus Curveball Tip of the Week: Positivity Resonance
Hi everyone, Bobbie LaPorte here again with this week’s Coronavirus Curveball tip of the week.
Before I start, I’d like to thank all of you that have emailed to say that you appreciate these tips and how helpful they have been to your team. I am very happy about that..altho as you can imagine, I would rather be communicating with you on a different topic. But this is the world we are in right now.
Today I want to share with you a concept from Positive Psychology called “Positivity Resonance”. You’ve heard me talk previously about the power and impact of arousing positive emotions in others – like appreciation, gratitude and hope – and the lasting impact they can have over time. It actually impacts brain structure and builds capacity for the future.
To take this a step further, when two people share a positive emotion, we know from neuroscience that the neurochemical responses that result happen simultaneously across both individual’s brains and bodies – creating a mirror effect that can truly be infectious – in a good way. I like to call it the Super Power of Positive Emotions!
So in these challenging times, don’t underestimate the impact that arousing positive emotions can have in yourself and others to weather difficult times.
I hope this is helpful; I’ll see you again next Monday, In the meantime, take care.
